Advantage Engineers is developing a 3-Dimensional plumbing building model for a luxury residential development in Bethesda, Maryland. The eight-floor, 40-unit building currently under construction, has one-of-a-kind condominiums with floor plans ranging from 1,444 sq. ft. to more than 6,000 sq. ft. The penthouse unit, market valued at $10.5 million, will sit on top of the building with 7,300 square feet in space, a direct access elevator, and a 1,500-square-foot private terrace overlooking downtown Bethesda.
Advantage is using building information modeling (BIM) to generate and manage a digital representation of the site, including physical and functional characteristics. The 3-D BIM model supports the developer’s decision-making process and helps to reduce the opportunity for conflicts during the construction phase allowing projects to complete on time and on budget.
Through all phases of the project, Advantage will participate in meeting coordination with contractors and subcontractors to create a plumbing model for each level of the building. Advantage’s plumbing tasks in the model include the entire building vent, sanitary, cold and hot water, storm and sewer systems, ground grid and an underground system.
