Advantage Engineers designed and provided construction drawings for a tall elevated structural steel equipment platform for supporting equipment cabinets for a wireless carrier at a tower site located in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. It was determined that the site lies on a floodplain, therefore the platform was designed to be elevated to protect the equipment cabinets and hardware from flood damage.
The proposed platform was designed to support dead, live, snow, earthquake, and wind loads. The structure was designed to anchor concrete pier foundations, which support a platform constructed of structural steel beams and channels. Additionally, a combination of knee bracing, x-bracing, and horizontal bracing was utilized to brace the platform and legs, and to provide stability when subjected to lateral loads.
