Advantage Engineers provided fiber optic plant surveying services for Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) Watts Bar Nuclear Plant facility. Services include locating, identifying, and documenting existing fiber optic plant from fiber distribution panel to fiber distribution panel. This includes inside plant and the outside plant infrastructure (manholes, handholes, and conduit).
Advantage documented as much of the network infrastructure as possible to determine all available network connectivity. Advantage provided the client with an inventory and point-in-time network diagram for all of the Watts Bar facility fiber optic plant. The drawing set may be used by the in-plant telecommunications staff to plan new network connectivity projects that are requested frequently within the plant. This will also be an aid to the TVA staff in designing and implementing up-graded digital fiber optic networks in the future.
TVA is a federally owned corporation and the nation’s largest public power company. TVA operates fossil-fuel, nuclear, and hydropower plants, and also produces energy from renewable sources. On behalf of Henkels & McCoy, Inc., Advantage Engineers crews completed numerous nuclear power plant safety training courses. Additionally, Advantage team members obtained security clearances prior to site access and were screened each time they entered and exited the plant.
