Historical Office Building Site Assessment
Advantage Engineers completed a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment for the refinance of a multi-story office building on behalf of a national leading bank. In addition to the standard ASTM 1527-05 scope of work, the building was also evaluated for potential asbestos containing materials, lead-based paint, mold growth, radon, and wetland presence.
During our research for the historical use of the property, Advantage discovered the building was originally used for automobile repair and fueling as early as 1926. Four Underground Storage Tanks (UST) were also identified on the historic Sanborne Fire Insurance maps. These tanks were reportedly located underneath the sidewalk and street adjacent to the building. A Phase II Investigation was proposed at the site due to the historic presence of USTs on the property.
