Advantage's Fiber Team Navigated a Challenging Fiber Route to Connect University Data to Off-Campus Facilities
Advances in speed, reliability, and connectivity allow us to do more with less and thus we rely on a wide range of technologies in our daily activities. Whether through our phones and tablets or our laptops and home computers, telecommunication services are no longer a luxury and but a necessity.
The Borough of Glassboro is implementing a new high-speed fiber optic network for its residents, Glassboro Public Schools, and Rowan University. The Rowan University project included extending the University's data network to off-campus offices.
Advantage Engineers provided OSP engineering and construction management services to Rowan University for the extension. The new network lateral was designed as a collapsible ring with a non-diverse path through the student center. The design drawings were exceptionally detailed because of the extensive network of existing underground utilities along the path.
The company completed all engineering work associated with the network extension including:
- Splicing assignments
- Outside plant
- Path design
- Utility marking and drawing coordination
- ISP Path design
