Advantage Helps Deploy FTTH in several markets for Shentel
Since the beginning of 2019, Advantage Engineers has been working with Shentel on their Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) project in a majority of the markets they are deploying FTTH.
Shentel is a broadband leader that delivers High-Speed Internet, TV, and Phone services over their state-of-the-art broadband network. They built a reputation for successfully bringing advanced technology to rural and underserved markets in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Kentucky for over 100 years.
In 2019, our fiber team completed field work in Front Royal, Virginia, including Outside Plant (OSP) Engineering & Permitting required for the installation. The city is broken down into (32) Local Convergence Points (LCP), each having a Hub cabinet placed that will provide the fiber feeds to the neighborhoods. Advantage completed the OSP Engineering for the Feeder Fiber that will route from the Shentel POP located in Front Royal out to each of the (32) LCP cabinets. We also completed the Engineering Plans for the (32) LCPs showing the locations of the LCP cabinets, as well as the location for all the Multi-Ports (MP) which is where all of the individual fiber drops will originate from for the provided service.
As depicted above, the fiber field crews surveyed 2,273 poles since the start of the project (approximately 65 miles). To accomplish this, we had at least one crew in the field, 3 days a week.
In addition to Front Royal, our fiber team completed engineering & permitting services for other FTTH designs in the following cities: Harrisonburg, VA, Lynchburg, VA, Salem, VA, Staunton, VA, and Frederick County, VA.
Besides FTTH, Advantage also provides Engineering & Permitting services to Shentel for Fiber-to-the-Business (FTTB) and Fiber-to-the-Tower (FTTT). In 2019 Advantage completed 30 projects, as well as Backbone engineering and permitting for future projects.
