Advantage Engineers provided due diligence services including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), Hazardous Building Materials Inspections and Asbestos Containing Building Materials (ACBM) Inspections to a leading global discount supermarket chain with over 9,000 stores. Advantage completed the investigations in support of an acquisition of 21 sites across Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
During the ACBM Inspections, Advantage completed a visual inspection and assessment of each site. In addition, Advantage completed a sampling program and provided results within one week of completing the inspections.
Advantage also completed a Hazardous Building Materials Inspection at each site. The inspections evaluated structures for Mercury and Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Advantage provided the client with a thorough report detailing site conditions.
In conjunction with the inspections, Advantage performed Phase I ESAs at 13 sites to identify potential petroleum products and hazardous substances. Advantage used historical data, interviews and visual reconnaissance to identify evidence of environmental conditions.
The results of the inspections and ESAs provided the client with a thorough “environmental picture” of each site prior to renovation activities. The client’s time-sensitive 8-week schedule complicated the project; however, Advantage was able to meet the time constraint so the client would be able to maintain their store-opening schedule. Advantage completed work in June 2015.
