Advantage Engineers evaluated the structural capacity of the 450 ft guyed tower located in Boalsburg, Pennsylvania for additional gravity and wind loads from the proposed wireless carrier. The analysis determined that the guyed tower has inadequate structural capacity to support the existing and proposed linear appurtenances without structural modifications. The tower legs were found to be inadequate and the guy wires were unable to support the proposed lading.
A modification plan was designed to reduce the tower usages. The plan included tower strengthening, guy replacement and foundation and anchor block modifications. The analysis and modifications were completed by the standards and loading of IBC 2009 and the ANSI/TIA-222-G-1 tower code.
